The Israeli Air Force intensified its aerial campaign against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on Tuesday evening, as the Shiite militant group fired rockets at civilian areas in northern Israel. Hostile aircraft infiltration warnings were issued for the towns of Neve Yam, Atlit, and Megadim, located just south of Haifa. This was the first time Atlit had experienced an air raid warning since the 2014 Gaza war.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching a swarm of suicide drones toward the Israeli Navy’s Shayetet 13 base near Atlit. Two drones approaching from the sea were intercepted, while a third crashed, with no reported injuries, according to Israeli military sources.
Shortly afterward, sirens also sounded in Beit Jan in the Upper Galilee and several Lower Galilee communities, including Sde Ilan and Givat Avni. Earlier in the day, rocket alert sirens had been triggered in Safed, Hatzor HaGlilit, Rosh Pina, Nof Kinneret, and Elifelet, all located in the Upper Galilee region.
