Israel is pushing for an international presence at the Rafah border crossing, which separates Gaza from Egypt, according to Channel 12 news.

According to Times of Israel news report, the IDF has offered several strategies to address control over the Philadelphi Corridor along the Gaza-Egypt border. These strategies include maintaining a full IDF presence along the 14-kilometer border, withdrawing with the option to return if necessary, or withdrawing while coordinating with Egypt.

Additionally, the IDF has proposed various technological measures to prevent Hamas from smuggling weapons through tunnels under the border. The report highlights that Israel's insistence on an international presence at Rafah stems from the fact that while Hamas has used tunnels for smuggling, most of its arms have been brought into Gaza through the Rafah crossing.

Arab media reports suggest that a "bridging proposal" from the US, shared with Israel and Hamas on Friday, proposes that the Palestinian Authority manage the Rafah crossing with remote oversight from Israel.
