The White House has issued a stark warning about the possibility of an Iranian attack on Israel, emphasizing the potential for sudden action. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby shared these concerns during a recent phone briefing with reporters.
Kirby stressed the uncertainty surrounding Iran's intentions, stating, "We have information that an attack could come with little or no warning, and certainly could come in coming days." He added that the US needs to be prepared for such a scenario.
The spokesperson acknowledged the difficulty in predicting Iran's actions, saying, "I can't sit here and tell you for sure that there's been a decision [by Iran] to change their mind [about attacking Israel], and I can't tell you for sure, if they attack, what that is going to look like, or even when it would occur."
Kirby confirmed that Iran has made some preparations, reinforcing the US belief that an attack could occur with minimal notice. However, he emphasized that the US hopes to avoid such an outcome.
This warning comes in the wake of earlier comments by President Joe Biden, who suggested that Iran might delay its attack if a ceasefire is reached between Israel and Hamas.
