Defense Minister Yoav Galant arrived today (Sunday) at the reception and sorting base in Tel Hashomer and spoke with the new recruits for the Nahal and Kafir brigades. He told them that "the basic situation that needs to be understood is that the State of Israel is fighting for its existence in a hostile environment. There were years when it needed to be explained more, now there is no need to explain it because everyone understands. We are in a war that has been going on for 10 months in seven different sectors. The main key to maintaining security is people."
Gallant continued to issue threats against Iran and Hezbollah: "You are coming at a challenging time, you are mobilizing at a very significant time, this is true of the entire war and especially these days, when our enemies are threatening to harm us in ways they have not harmed us before - we hear these messages from the direction of Iran and from Hezbollah".
The Minister of Defense continued the concept of containment which claims that only if Israel is attacked does it attack its enemies in return: "I tell them, you need to know this, whoever harms us in a way that he has not acted in the past, can also expect to be harmed by us in a way that we have not acted in the past; and the IDF has significant capabilities."
He added: "I hope they do their math well and don't get to the point where they make us do things that will cause them significant harm and increase the chance of war breaking out on additional fronts. These are things we don't want, but we need to prepare for them and they may happen."
