Revolution in the IDF: more soldiers to be recognised as combat support

For the first time in the IDF, mandatory serving men and women from the Technological, Maintenance, Medical, and Logistics Corps within combat units will be recognized as part of the combat support system.

The IDF combat system comprises both operational units and combat support units. Until now, the administrative support system was separate from the combat and operational support systems.

Following extensive headquarters work over recent months, the recognition of administrative support male and female soldiers within the ATAL Corps as part of the combat support system has been approved in recent days. ATAL Corps servicemen and women have been operating in the forefront of IDF operations over the past nine months, shoulder to shoulder with combat soldiers in the battlefield, demonstrating dedication, combat spirit, and great bravery, often at the cost of injury and casualties among the servicemen.

Understanding that the activities of administrative support personnel are an integral part of the IDF's ability to achieve war objectives and maintain the continuity of force operations, a fundamental change has been made by recognizing this population as part of the combat support effort.

The plan entails significant organizational and conceptual changes that will directly impact servicemen and women in mandatory service, as well as reservists and officers from the Technological, Maintenance, Medical, and Logistics Corps, from their training through to their ongoing service and development.
