On the one year anniversary of the Seventh Day event in October, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with Defense Minister Yoav Galant about the US's commitment to Israel and sent a message to the Iranians.

In a tweet on Network X, Austin wrote: "Today I spoke with Defense Minister Yoav Galant to discuss Iran's actions that destabilize the region and the current situation in Lebanon. I remembered that tomorrow will mark the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack against Israel in its history. I reiterated the unwavering commitment of the United States to the security of Israel, a ceasefire in Gaza and a diplomatic decision that returns Israeli and Lebanese citizens to their homes safely on both sides of the border.

Austin further clarified that "the United States supports Israel's right to defend itself, and I emphasized the significant ability of the American military forces to defend Israel and deter against further escalation." I also stated that the US is obligated to deter Iran and its partners from exploiting the situation or expanding the conflict."
