A two-year-old Israeli toddler tragically drowned on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand last week.

The Foreign Ministry issued a statement: "From the moment the incident was reported, the Israeli consul in Thailand and the Department for Israeli Expats have been in continuous contact with the family during this difficult time. They are assisting the family in dealing with local authorities and the insurance company to bring the child's coffin to Israel."

In another tragic incident on the Thai resort island of Phuket, a five-year-old Israeli girl died on May 17 after falling from a songthaew, a local form of public transport.

The accident occurred when the vehicle stopped at a zebra crossing, causing the child, who was leaning out of the right window, to fall and sustain a severe head injury. Despite being rushed to Patong Hospital, she was later pronounced dead. The girl was traveling with her parents at the time of the incident. Patong police are investigating the circumstances, including conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
