A 30-year-old man was killed Wednesday evening in a severe traffic accident on Israel's Highway 6, between the Elyakim and Ein Tut interchanges.
According to reports from Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's national emergency medical service, the incident occurred at approximately 9:49 PM local time. The victim's pickup truck collided forcefully with a larger truck on the highway.
MDA paramedic Eyal Gutman said, "We were in the air in a helicopter when we received the report of the accident and landed nearby, at the same time as the intensive care unit arrived. The injured person was unconscious, suffering from multiple system injuries, and was trapped in the vehicle. During the complex rescue operation, we provided medical treatment, including ventilation, and after the rescue, we performed resuscitation efforts, but his injuries were critical, and ultimately, we had to pronounce him dead."
The stretch of Highway 6 where the accident took place is located in northern Israel, in the Carmel region.
No information has been released about the driver of the larger truck or any other potential injuries resulting from the collision.
Israeli traffic police are expected to investigate the circumstances that led to this fatal accident.
