With the continued escalation on the Lebanese front, the IDF announced a snap exercise was completed today (Thursday), aimed at improving the army's readiness for fighting on the northern front.
According to the IDF Spokesperson, the goal of the exercise was to strengthen readiness for various scenarios on the northern front. The combined exercise was led by the Operations Directorate, and included the different commands, arms, departments, and the General Staff.
Earlier today, sirens were heard along the border due to a suspected hostile aircraft penetrating Israel. Ten minutes later, IDF Rear Command declared the event over.
Yesterday morning, a heavy rocket salvo was launched against Israel, killing a worker in Kiryat Shmonah's industrial area.
A few hours later, during a refresher course for commanders, Northern Command commander, Maj.-Gen. Uri Gordin said that: "We are conducting very, very significant attacks against Hezbollah, and we will continue and we will be aggressive to hit and push back Hezbollah and significantly harm it. We are determined to change the security situation in the north so the residents can return to the north in safety and with a sense of security."
