IDF Spox: Claim IDF deliberately targeted aid convoy is false

IDF Spokesperson Hagari said that they were continuing to investigate the incident last week when several Palestinians were killed during aid distribution, saying it has all the needed documentation.

The IDF Spokesperson gave a briefing to the press tonight (Saturday), addressing events on the multiple fronts on which the IDF is engaged, and also addressed the tragic event involving the Gaza aid convoy, in which dozens of Palestinians were killed in unclear circumstances.

The IDF Spokesperson stated that the IDF is following the political leadership’s directive in allowing the continued, coordinated humanitarian aid into Gaza. “This is an effort which enables the fighting. We are investigating the incident in which Palestinians were killed during the aid distribution,” he said.

Hagari added that “we have all the documentation, we will present the findings. We secured the humanitarian operation, and the claim that we deliberately harmed the convoy and the people is entirely baseless.”

Answering a question from Channel 11, Hagari noted that Israel introduces humanitarian aid from the air and land and is considering the appropriate ways to do so.

“What is driving us is that this is approved by the political leadership. There is a challenge in introducing the aid, we don’t want it to end up in the heart of Hamas’ terror bastions. These things create complexity. The event which happened on Thursday was a problem of flooding with a mob that took over the trucks and endangered our forces.”
