Despite increasing tensions between Ireland and Israel over the war, Irish Ambassador Sonya Mcguinness attended a traditional tree planting ceremony in Ben Shemen Forest.

At the ceremony, Mcguinness said that the country, including guests such as herself, had undergone a difficult and traumatic period since the October 7 attack. What mattered, she argued, was that the land was here before us and would remain after us, and that this unites us more than it divides.
