The terrorist Marwan Barghouti, one of the senior members of the Fatah organization who is serving several life sentences for the murder of Israelis, petitioned the court through his lawyer Avigdor Feldman demanding that he be removed from the segregation wing to which he was transferred last month - this was announced today (Wednesday) in Walla.
Barghouti also claimed that prison service personnel harass him. According to Barghouti, at the beginning of December, some guards entered his cell in Ofer prison - handcuffed his hands and feet and forced him to walk bent over in a way that hurt him. The prison director then beat him, threatened him "I will beat you up", and from there transferred him to solitary confinement in Ayalon prison for five days.
This, following a message that was distributed in his name, but his wife denied that it had anything to do with him, in which he called on the members of the Palestinian Authority to join the fight against Israel.
In addition, the terrorist claimed that the conditions in the segregation wing, which he already knew from his past as a prisoner, had worsened. According to him, the cell windows were sealed inside and out and most of the time the room is dark in a way that makes it difficult to even go to the bathroom. Also, Barghouti said that he suffers from abuse by prison guards.
For example, according to him, he was not given a change of clothes after being moved to another cell, and the prison staff searched his cell while he was naked and handcuffed three times a day. The terrorist's words also indicate that guards took his mattress every morning, and he had to sleep on the floor.
Barghouti also complained about the daily diet provided to him, which, according to him, consisted of three small slices of bread, yogurt, two spoons of beans and three spoons of rice.
The prison service stated: "The prison service operates in accordance with orders and procedures and placing great emphasis on the security guidelines and disciplinary rules in the prisons. The lawyer submitted a petition detailing his claims, but a court hearing has not yet been scheduled. A response will be given through the usual channels."
