The Minister of Education, Yoav Kisch, decided this year for the first time, in view of the "Swords of Iron" war, to award two additional awards for a special contribution to revival: the Israel Prize for Mutual Guarantee and the Israel Prize for Rescue and Civil Heroism.

The Israel Award is the most important and prestigious award in the State of Israel. The prize is awarded in different and diverse fields of research, practice and creativity in Israel. The recipients of the award are citizens of Israel who demonstrate special excellence, and a breakthrough in their field, or who have made a special contribution to the State of Israel and Israeli society.

The awards ceremony will be held as every year in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, in an official and state ceremony, at the end of the 76th Independence Day of the State of Israel. The submission of nominations for the Israel Prize in the field of mutual guarantee and in the field of rescue and civil heroism will continue until Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
