Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu rejected a proposal for a ceasefire in exchange for the release of some of the hostages held in the Gaza Strip - this was reported this evening (Thursday) in the British "Guardian" newspaper.

According to the report, the proposal forwarded to Netanyahu was for a 5-day ceasefire, in exchange for the release of dozens of hostages. It was also said that the proposal was originally submitted a few days after the massacre on October 7, and was rejected outright.

After the ground entry began on October 27, contacts resumed, with Hamas offering a larger number of hostages in exchange for a cease-fire - but according to the report, Netanyahu continued to reject all offers made for the release of the captives. The Prime Minister's Office did not respond to the report.
