The statement was a response to Lt.-Gen. Halevi's statement that fuel would eventually be introduced into the Strip under supervision.

The office of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responded today (Thursday) to an earlier statement by Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, per which Israel will deliver fuel to hospitals in the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu’s office stated that “Prime Minister Netanyahu did not approve the introduction of fuel into Gaza.”

Earlier this evening, Chief of Staff Halevi had said during a statement to the press that “Fuel will be delivered under supervision to the hospitals in the Gaza Strip. We will do everything so that it doesn’t reach Hamas.”

Settlements and National Missions Minister Orit Strook also addressed Halevi’s statement, saying “’fuel will be delivered under supervision to the hospitals in the Gaza Strip. We will do everything so that it doesn’t reach Hamas.’ This sentence is an oxymoron, which will cost us in the lives of our soldiers, our hostages, and our citizens.”

Strook added that “the decision is on the shoulders of the political leadership, and on its conscience. PS rocket salvos were fired now from the missing fuel stores – for the attention of those who pressure us.”
