Last month, the office of Prime Minister Netanyahu informed the organizers of the state ceremony that Netanyahu will not be attending. According to a report of Yaron Avraham for Channel 12 News, people at the office clarified to the organizers that there is no need to reserve room for him at the memorial being held for Rabin on the Hebrew date of the murder next week. The Prime Minister’s Office’s people explained that this avoidance of the ceremony was due to the “politicization” which characterized the event.

Michaeli: “The ceremony will be more respectable without him”

The person quick to respond was Labor Party Chairwoman Meirav Michaeli, who sniped at Netanyahu, saying: “For a change, a good decision by Neyanyahu. There is no reason that the man who incited against Rabin should come to the memorial ceremony for the murder of Rabin. The ceremony will be more respectable and stately without him.”
