On Monday, police arrested a 38-year-old Jewish resident of Lod who is accused of infiltrating an IDF base in the Beit Shemesh area. The suspect allegedly wore an army uniform to pose as a reservist, stole weapons, and damaged military vehicles.

According to Israel National News reports, the investigation into the suspect's motives is ongoing, and he has opted to remain silent. The court has extended his arrest by four days.

Jerusalem Magistrate's Court Judge Muhammad Haj-Yahia noted, "Yesterday at 6:30 p.m., the defendant impersonated an IDF reservist and stole a weapon from the military base, while also causing damage to military property. This is a serious offense, particularly given the current high alert status of the IDF and the ongoing conflict. It should be noted that the suspect is exercising his right to remain silent."

The police are investigating how the suspect, who was found with a significant amount of money, managed to gain access to the base, carry out the theft, and damage the vehicles. They are also looking into the origins of the money.

In a related case from about six months ago, Shai Kabasa, a resident of Kiryat Gat, was charged with stealing weapons while working as a contractor in the Gaza Division. The indictment includes allegations of theft of a tank shell, a mortar shell, and flare bombs.
