According to reports allowed for publication today (Thursday), Coastal District officers from the Baca Algrabia station apprehended the suspect in the northern part of the country.
The incident occurred earlier this week when a woman in her 40s was fatally shot in her home in Jatt, an Arab village in North Israel. It is suspected that the murder stemmed from a neighbour dispute involving the suspect, who is described as a known criminal in his thirties and a former prisoner. Allegedly, the conflict began while he was praying at the local mosque, channel 14 reports.
After the altercation, the suspect reportedly went to the neighbour's residence and carried out the shooting that resulted in the death of the neighbour's wife. Police launched an intelligence operation that led to the suspect's arrest in the northern region shortly after he fled.
Authorities have detained the suspect and are seeking to extend his custody as the investigation continues.
The tragic incident in Jatt involved the discovery of a deceased 40-year-old woman with fatal gunshot wounds in her residential apartment. Emergency responders from MDA and local rescue unions attempted resuscitation efforts but unfortunately confirmed her death due to severe injuries.
