Chair of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, Member of Knesset Simcha Rothman, responds to the Supreme Court's decision that prevented organizations from the national camp from joining as friends of the court in the appeal against the reduction of the Clause of Reasonability. In contrast, the Supreme Court judges approved the association "The Association for Civil Rights" to join the appeal as a "friend of the court." The same was true for the association "Adam, Teva, VeDin."
"The Supreme Court judges rejected the government's request to postpone the hearing," Rothman writes on Twitter. "The Supreme Court judges rejected the requests that were filed to disqualify President of the Supreme Court Esther Hayut, who publicly expressed her opinion on the matter in question. The Supreme Court judges rejected the requests to join the process that were submitted by supporters of the judicial system reform and approved those who oppose it."
"I truly wanted to believe that the Supreme Court is not intentionally seeking to create a constitutional crisis as part of a deliberate effort to preserve its inflated power, at the cost of dragging the State of Israel into functional chaos. Reality proves this to be an entirely naive thought. The Supreme Court knows no bounds. And in a democracy, there must not be an authority without limits to its jurisdiction."
