Israeli windsurfers Sharon Kantor and Tom Reuveny are maintaining competitive positions as the Olympic sailing events in Marseille near their conclusion.
Despite challenging wind conditions, Kantor sits in second place overall in the women's iQFoil competition after 11 races. A marathon race, which carries double points, was canceled due to low winds after 60 minutes with no finishers.
In the men's event, Reuveny holds onto third place following his 10th race. He trails Australia's Grae Morris and Poland's Pawel Tarnowski in the rankings.
The final day of preliminary races is set for tomorrow (Thursday), with five more races scheduled in each event. Friday will see the medal races, where the top-ranked sailor advances directly to the final, guaranteeing a podium finish. Second and third-ranked competitors move to the semifinal, while those ranked fourth through tenth will compete in a quarterfinal round.
These strong performances put both Israeli athletes in contention for Olympic medals as the sailing events approach their climax in Marseille.
