Defense Minister Yoav Gallant met today (Wednesday) with the White House envoy to the Middle East, Brett McGurk, and stressed to him that "the operation in Gaza will not stop until the mission is completed - the elimination of Hamas and the abducted 'return."
During the meeting between the two, Gallant reviewed with McGurk the latest developments in the ground operation in Gaza and emphasized the complexity arising from disguising hospitals, schools, and mosques as terrorist centers from which Israeli citizens and IDF forces are being fired upon. Also, the parties discussed the issue of the abductees when the Minister of Defense gave updates to the American envoy.
In addition, the two discussed the issue of the humanitarian aid provided to the citizens of Gaza, Minister Gallant emphasized to him that the international community must assist in this effort.
Last night the Minister of Defense conducted a security review and noted the IDF's continued grip on Gaza.
"For about two weeks now, we have been operating inside Gaza, we breached the fortification lines, some above ground and some below, they are connected by shafts from each of which terrorists come out. The breaching of the forces made it possible to reach the city center, Hamas lost control in northern Gaza, in each shaft we saw a connection to a mosque."
