Herzog spoke with world leaders: standing by Israel

Following the fighting in the south, the President of the country, Isaac Herzog, spoke with world leaders who sought to condemn the attack by Hamas: "Israel has the right to defend itself, and we will assist it as much as possible"

Against the backdrop of the war in the south, President of the country Isaac Herzog spoke this evening (Saturday) with a series of world leaders, and they emphasized to him that they express support for Israel and its right to self-defense.

In the discussions held, among other things, he spoke with the UN Secretary-General, who told the President that he strongly condemns the attack on Israel.

Additionally, Herzog spoke with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said, "The United States stands by Israel and will do everything in its power to assist in its combat efforts." Blinken expressed his condolences to the Israeli citizens for the heavy losses and emphasized that the United States is alongside Israel and will assist it to the best of its ability in the ongoing combat efforts.

In addition, the President spoke with the Presidents of France, Germany, Poland, Argentina, Serbia, the President of the European Commission, the Chancellor of Austria, the Secretary-General of NATO, and the President of the European Parliament.

Earlier, the leader of the opposition, Yair Lapid, called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to form a national emergency government. Additionally, he asked Benny Gantz to join the government, and the two are expected to meet this evening.
