The Likud Party's court convened today (Wednesday) and decided that the party's center will gather to vote in favor of promoting the reform.
According to the party's statement, the party's court has decided to recognize the demand of over 1000 members of the Likud center, led by the "Dror Forum in Likud," and set a final date for the center's gathering and voting on the demand by Likud Knesset representatives to advance the judicial reform in legislation.
As previously mentioned, "Dror Forum in Likud" and several other groups collected over 1000 signatures from members of the Likud center with the goal of convening the Likud center and determining that if no agreements are reached at the President's Residence, the Likud party and its representatives will continue to legislate the amendment to the Committee for Appointing Judges in a second and third reading.
A call to Gallant, Bitan and Edelstein: "Enough with the sticks in the wheels"
"Dror Forum in Likud" stated: "This is a significant victory for democratic processes within the Likud and for party democracy in Israel. The seats were given to the Knesset members as representatives and not as a work arrangement," they said.
They also sent a hint to Minister Gallant and Knesset members Edelstein and Bitan: "On December 15th, the Likud center will tell you its say and to anyone who tries to manipulate the will of the voters: Enough with the obstacles in the wheels - it's time for the people to choose its judges!"
