The arrest of the terrorist from the stabbing attack in Jerusalem was extended

The police have announced that the detention of the terrorist who carried out the stabbing attack near Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem last night has been extended until September 13th. In parallel, an associate of the terrorist has been arrested, who, according to suspicion, was aware of his intentions and did not report it

The police announced today (Thursday) that the detention of the terrorist who carried out the stabbing attack near the Old City in Jerusalem last night, in which 3 people were injured, has been extended. The decision of the court determined that the terrorist's detention has been extended for 7 days until September 13th.

In parallel, the Jerusalem District detectives arrested an accomplice of the terrorist, identified as a 17-year-old resident of East Jerusalem. The suspicion is that shortly before the attack, he knew about the terrorist's intentions and did not report it. His detention has also been extended today by the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for 6 days.

As previously mentioned, last night, the terrorist arrived at the Jaffa Gate promenade in Jerusalem and began stabbing and attempting to stab pedestrians at the location. As a result of the stabbing attack, one person was seriously injured with penetrating wounds and was taken to the hospital, where his condition has since improved to moderate. Two other individuals suffered minor injuries in the incident, among them one suffering emotional distress.

Civilian security personnel and police officers from the David District of the Jerusalem District quickly apprehended the terrorist near the scene of the attack shortly after he had thrown the knife. He was handcuffed and subsequently taken for questioning by the central unit of the Jerusalem District. As previously mentioned, his detention has been extended for a week, while the investigation into the attack continues.
