Before Rosh HaShanah? An expected conversation between Netanyahu and Zelenskyy

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are expected to hold an official conversation in the coming days - this was reported this evening (Wednesday - Israel) in 'Kan' News. If the conversation takes place - it will be the first conversation between Netanyahu and Zelenskyy since Netanyahu's return to the Prime Ministership last December.

According to the report, the possibility of Netanyahu and Zelenskyy meeting on the sidelines of the UN assembly, which will be held in New York in two weeks, is also being considered. Sources privy to the details said that the Prime Minister's Office is interested in such a meeting.

As mentioned, the reports of a conversation between Netanyahu and Zelenskyy come against the background of the crisis between Israel and Ukraine in recent months, in the shadow of the criticism of the administration in Kyiv on Israel's attitude towards them in the shadow of the war and the lack of aid to refugees. In the last month, the government has been working to formulate an outline that will allow Israeli worshipers to enter Uman during Rosh Hashanah - but in Ukraine, they are considering banning Israelis from entering the country as a response to the cessation of aid to war refugees.

At the beginning of the week, Minister Meir Proosh addressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asked for his immediate involvement in attempts to formulate an agreed outline, while warning that if he does not enter the event - the failure will be the responsibility of the Israeli government. "The complex political relations between Israel and Ukraine have led to the fact that the authorities in Ukraine refuse to cooperate and hold a dialogue on the issue of regulating the passage of passengers in an efficient and safe manner," he claimed. "In the absence of a change in the state of dialogue with the government of Ukraine, I will not be able to carry out the task assigned to me and the failure will be registered in the name of the government."
