Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responded to the request of Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and ordered immediate assistance in extinguishing the raging fires in Limassol.

As part of Operation "Wings of Fire," firefighting forces from the IDF and the police will take off today (Monday) to assist the Republic of Cyprus in extinguishing massive wildfires that are raging in Limassol. This is in response to an emergency request by the Republic of Cyprus. The aircraft will aid in extinguishing the large wildfires that are spreading in the Republic of Cyprus due to extreme weather conditions, including a heatwave, strong winds, and high temperatures.

The delegation consists of 2 "Air-Tractor" firefighting aircraft, a team of four pilots, skilled ground crews, forest fire experts, and accompanying equipment including around 6 tons of fire retardants for extinguishing and rescue operations in Israel.

The aircraft and crews are expected to take off this afternoon and integrate into firefighting operations that will be conducted over several days, unless there is a change in the situation. As a reminder, two weeks ago, the delegation returned from Operation "Birds of Fire," during which Israel assisted the country of Greece in extinguishing extensive wildfires within its territory.
