This morning (9th of Av) Jews went up to the Temple Mount. According to the reports, there were hundreds and even a thousand people at the entrance.
The ascent was carried out in groups of 100 people, limited in time and closely accompanied by policemen. The entrance is through the Mugrabim Gate, passing through the mountain and in a circular route descending through the Shalshelet Gate.
According to one of the participants, they didn't have enough time to complete the round and were expelled. Here's his description: "I was in a massive group that ascended to the mount, and they started singing religious songs about Jerusalem and parts of the prayer out loud, and they also shouted 'Redemption.' Immediately, they escorted us out through the northern gate, The Shvatim Gate, which is next to the Lion's Gate, further away." He further adds, "Those who bow down on the mount are detained; this time they detained only three who bowed down again at the end."
Earlier, the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, went up to the Temple Mount and alongside messages about the importance of unity, made it clear that this is the place where Israel needs to show governance.
