Israel-Gaza War, Hostage Deal

No kidding! White House wondering if Hamas wants a deal at all

Axios reports that new Hamas demands and the murder of the hostages has led American officials to question Hamas' sincerity in wanting a deal. This shift is occurring just as popular pressure and accusations against the government for failing to secure a deal are ramping up.

Axios reported today (Thursday) that American officials are increasingly doubting whether Hamas wants a complete hostage deal or not.

Hamas' addition of more prisoners to be freed than in the original deal and its murder of the six hostages has led one American official to state that "We still think the deal is the only way to save the lives of the hostages and stop the war. But the executions not only increased our sense of urgency but also called into question Hamas' willingness to do a deal of any kind."

Meanwhile, Hamas senior leader Hamdan said days ago that the terrorist organization's stance has not changed, and that no full hostage deal is possible without complete withdrawal from the Strip, "serious" release of prisoners, and a permanent ceasefire.
