Pro-Israel activists will unveil a "Hostage Square" installation during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week to highlight the plight of Israeli captives. This move comes as the city braces for significant pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

Organized by the Israeli American Council, the public art exhibit will be set up on a private lot, bypassing the need for a permit, according to a spokesperson. While the precise location near the United Center has not been disclosed, it will be situated close to the convention venue.

Elan Carr, CEO of the IAC, stated, “Hostage Square Chicago will serve as a platform for Americans, especially Jewish Americans, to show solidarity, condemn the October 7 attacks, and support Israel’s fight against its enemies. It will also celebrate America’s strong backing of the Jewish community and Israel.”

The installation will feature six large artworks by Israeli artists related to the October 7 attacks, alongside eight 10-foot-tall milk cartons reminiscent of 1990s campaigns for missing children. Each carton will display enlarged images of Israeli hostage posters from the early days of the conflict, highlighting the names and photos of Americans currently held captive in Gaza.
