Former US President Donald Trump defeated his opponent Nikki Haley for the fifth consecutive time in the Republican primaries held in the state of Michigan. Trump's victory brings him another step closer to securing the nomination of the Republican Party for the presidency of the United States for the third time in a row.

On the losing side, although Haley still holds a slim chance of beating Trump, she has announced that she will not quit the race until at least the next state is voted on in the coming week.

At the end of the vote count, it appears that Trump won 68% of the votes, while Haley took home just 27%. Following the victory, Trump collected the 55 delegates that the state of Michigan distributes, increasing his total to 119 delegates out of about 1,215 that he needs to win the GOP nomination.

On the Democratic side, incumbent president Joe Biden won with more than 80% of the votes, but the largest Muslim community in the US, representing about 12% of the total votes in the state, mostly placed a "not committed" ballot, indicating their dissatisfaction with Biden due to his policies in Gaza and general unwillingness to support him.
