"He Lost His Moral Compass"

Erdan Responds to the UN Secretary General: "He Lost His Moral Compass"

After UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres claimed that "Gaza is becoming a cemetery for children," Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan responded angrily: "He is a secretary-general who has lost his moral compass, and he must not remain in his position for even one more minute."

Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, responded this evening (Monday) to the statements of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who claimed that "Gaza is becoming a cemetery for children." In his remarks, he reiterated his call for Guterres to resign immediately from his position.

"The UN Secretary-General, who has shown understanding for the massacre and slaughter of innocent civilians by Hamas and did not deliver any speech calling on Hamas terrorists to disarm themselves and release the captives in order to end the war, has lost his moral compass, and he must not remain even one more minute in his position," Erdan said. "I call on him again to resign."

According to him, "any UN representative who makes the false moral equivalence between a cruel terrorist organization conducting war crimes and a law-abiding democracy is testifying of themselves that they have a corrupt moral compass and they must immediately resign from their position."

As mentioned, the UN Secretary-General earlier today stated, "Protecting civilians is more important than anything else. I am troubled by the violations of international humanitarian law. Gaza is becoming a cemetery for children – hundreds of children are killed or injured every day, and even members of the media and UN staff have been killed at a level not seen in decades."

"I salute all those who continue their work in the area despite the clear danger to their lives, but the number of deaths underscores the importance of an immediate ceasefire. Everyone must work to end the ongoing suffering and increase humanitarian aid to the innocent civilians in Gaza," he added.
