Hadash-Ta'al MK Ofer Cassif was expelled from the Knesset for six months on November 11, following a decision by the Knesset Ethics Committee, according to Israeli media reports.

The decision came after Cassif accused the IDF of committing war crimes and signed a South African-backed genocide petition addressed to the International Court of Justice.

Starting November 12, Cassif’s suspension will include a six-month expulsion from Knesset proceedings and a two-week salary forfeiture—one of the harshest penalties issued against a Knesset member in recent years.

Cassif had previously faced disciplinary action in October 2023 when he was suspended without pay for 45 days for comments made shortly after the onset of the war, where he accused Israel of inciting violence and controversially likened Israel’s plans to the Nazis’ Final Solution.
