Sergeant Gur Kehati, 20, from Nir Banim, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon, the IDF announced on Thursday morning.
Kehati, a soldier in Battalion 13 of the Golani Brigade, fell during fierce battles along the volatile northern front. His death brings the number of IDF soldiers killed since the onset of the war to 803.
The IDF Spokesperson announced that he was promoted after his death.He was killed in a clash with Hezbollah terrorists alongside Eretz Israel researcher Ze'ev (Jabo) Hanoch Erlich, 70, who was also killed. An officer from the 13th Battalion was also seriously injured in the incident. The Chief of Staff of the Golani Brigade, Colonel (Res.) Yoav Yarom, was moderately wounded.
Just a day earlier, the IDF confirmed its 800th fallen soldier: Sergeant First Class (res.) Roi Sasson, 21, from Mevaseret Zion. Sasson, a member of the 90th "Nahshon" Battalion, Kfir Brigade, was killed in action in the northern Gaza Strip.
During the same engagement, Lt. Col. Yoel Glickman, the "Nahshon" Battalion officer, sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized.
