National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir announced today (Thursday) that he has extended by a month the decision of the Israel Prison Service Commissioner, Major General Kobi Shabtai, not to allow family visits for terrorists.

In his statement, Ben Gvir said that the decision will be in effect from this coming Friday until December 8th. It was also stated that the prohibition is in accordance with the opinion of the Intelligence Division and the Prison Service Division.

As a reminder, last night the Knesset approved in a second and third reading the law for the expulsion of terrorists' families, which expands the powers of the Minister of the Interior and allows for the expulsion of family members of terrorists if they were aware of the plan to harm or expressed support for the act of terrorism – this in order to deter and reduce support for future acts of terrorism.
