As Israel works with the United States to decide on how to retaliate against Iran for hitting it with 181 ballistic missiles last week, the Iranian President released a statement claiming that the attack was meant to bring peace.
In his statement, President Masoud Pezeshkian said that "we attacked the Zionist entity in order to bring peace to the region and to reduce the tension it is causing."
He further claimed that "our action was done based on the UN Charter ad only military targets were attacked."
Pezeshkian even said that "we avoided an immediate response to the elimination of our guest (former Hamas leader) Ismail Haniyeh," who was eliminated by Israel according to foreign sources, "to give hope to the success of the ceasefire efforts" with Hamas.
