The security cabinet is set to convene in the Kirya tonight (Wednesday) to discuss the situation in the north and decide on the IDF's next steps.

The Prime Minister's Office has meanwhile said that there is a "possibility" that Netanyahu may leave tonight for the United Nations General Assembly instead of tomorrow.

The IDF has meantime taken a number of steps pointing to preparation for a ground incursion into Lebanon, with the aim of neutralizing the rocket and missile threat from Lebanon, including the callup of two reserve brigades and the striking of some 60 Hezbollah intelligence gathering sites, most of these in southern Lebanon.

In the shadow of the intense attacks that the IDF is launching in Lebanon, the Northern Command Chief, Major General Uri Gordin, visited the commanders and fighters of the 7th Brigade yesterday (Tuesday) during their brigade exercise on the northern border, examined their readiness, and conducted an operational situation assessment with them.

During the visit, the Major General emphasized the importance of the forces' preparedness and readiness to change the security situation and return the residents of the north to their homes.
