Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reportedly said at a security meeting Thursday that "we are heading towards a broad campaign in the north, to this or that degree of intensity," according to a report by Channel 13 News.

Senior officials quoted by Channel 13 said that the decision to launch such a campaign depend on the amount and quality of munitions possessed by the IDF and international legitimacy.

Regarding the latter, the United States has repeatedly tried to warn Israel off of a major campaign and only green-lit very targeted efforts, while all countries in Europe have sent senior emissaries to Lebanon and Israel in an effort to ward off a wider war, usually to little result.

According to the Channel 13 report, a senior official close to Netanyahu said that the timeline for the offensive is "weeks to a few months."
