The announcement by the chairman of the Histadrut, Arnon Bar David, of a widespread strike in the economy in protest of the murder of the six hostages held by Hamas and calling for a deal "now" with the Gaza terrorist organization - turned out to be a resounding farce yesterday (Sunday).

A long list of municipalities and local authorities have announced that they will not take part in Bar David's strike, as well as many organizations, commercial entities and companies that have announced that they will not participate in the political strike and will observe a normal work day.

The broad political protest against the government and against its leader, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, also ended last night in failure as far as the organizers were concerned. After dramatic promises about "shaking" the country and despite an extensive campaign on the networks and many efforts to bring hundreds of thousands to a huge demonstration in Kaplan in the heart of Tel Aviv, only 80,000 people came to the demonstration near the Azrieli buildings last night, according to the police's estimate, much less than the expectations of the organizers who support the deal dangerous with Hamas.

Many medical centers in the conflict areas will operate as usual, the Aerospace Industry and the Port of Ashdod will operate as usual, Clalit clinics will operate as usual, a large part of the public transportation services such as the Electra Afikim Company and the Israel Railways Company will function as usual, the light rail in Jerusalem and Israel will only partially operate and a long list of Municipalities, authorities and government offices have already announced that they will not join the strike.
