3,000 year old jug at Haifa Museum

On Friday, chaos erupted at the Hecht Museum at the University of Haifa, as reported by Flash News.

According to Radio Haifa, a family with a 3-year-old child was among the visitors. The child stepped backward, collided with an ancient jug from the Late Bronze Age (1500-1130 BCE), and shattered it to pieces.

"There was hysteria and commotion that was difficult to process," said Dr. Inbal Rivlin, director of the Hecht Museum. "It was very surprising because we are extremely careful about safety measures in the museum."

"This was a vessel that predates the days of King David and Solomon and is typical of the Canaan region. It was used for storing and transporting local goods, mainly wine and olive oil. Similar jugs have been found in archaeological excavations, but most were discovered broken or incomplete. This particular jug in the Hecht Museum was found intact."
