After Iranian officials threatened Israel with a "devastating" response in revenge for the assassination of Hamas and Hezbollah officials, in recent days there has been a certain moderation in the statements coming out of Tehran.

The Iranian delegation to the UN strengthened the administration's position when it said that any response should be chosen carefully, so as not to damage the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip.

Even Iran's Revolutionary Guards, the country's most powerful security force, said an attack might not come immediately. "The time is at our disposal," said Revolutionary Guards spokesman, Lt. Col. Ali Muhammad Naini to the local media, adding that "the waiting period for this response may be long."
