Railroad Tracks Discovered in Hamas Smuggling Tunnels Under Philadelphi Corridor

The IDF has uncovered railroad tracks in smuggling tunnels along the Philadelphi Corridor, highlighting the extensive smuggling network operating beneath the border between Egypt and Gaza, according to Israel National News reports.

According to Doron Kadosh’s report on Galai Tzahal (IDF Radio), these tracks were used to move weapons in wagon-like vehicles into Gaza.

The tracks facilitated the transport of significant quantities of arms, revealing the scale of the smuggling operation. IDF sources indicated that tunnel destruction efforts are ongoing, with some areas still under investigation. There are also sections of the Philadelphi Corridor where drilling is incomplete, suggesting that additional smuggling tunnels may yet be discovered.

To date, the IDF has identified approximately 30 smuggling tunnels with a combined length exceeding 100 kilometres. Recent operations have led to the discovery and demolition of numerous tunnels. Notably, a tunnel with a height of three meters was uncovered last week, capable of accommodating vehicle traffic.
