Following Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s directive for a direct attack on Israel, including the targeted assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, The New York Times outlines how the missile assault from Iran and Hezbollah might be executed.

According to the report, Iranian military commanders are considering using drones and missiles to strike military targets around Tel Aviv and Haifa. The attack is expected to be launched from both Iran and additional countries to overwhelm Israel’s air defense systems.

Meanwhile, in light of Iran’s threats to retaliate against Israel for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Israeli officials believe that an Iranian response is imminent, though not before the weekend.

Security sources estimate that Iran and Hezbollah are likely to launch their attack on Israel in the coming days but will likely wait until after the weekend due to the funerals in Qatar and Beirut for the Hezbollah commander and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
