Nasrallah in Trouble: "The Response Will Not Only Come from Israel"

Professor Uzi Rabi analyses Hezbollah's reaction minutes after the massacre in northern Israel and notes that Nasrallah is in a difficult position. "They will demand to know who is responsible, and there will be a response."

Professor Uzi Rabi, a senior researcher at the Moshe Dayan Centre for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University, spoke to i24NEWS today (Sunday) about Hezbollah's response to the tragedy in Majdal Shams. Hezbollah has denied any connection to the rocket launch that struck a soccer field, resulting in the deaths of 12 children and teenagers.

According to Professor Rabi: "Lebanon is in a problematic situation. Nasrallah is in trouble with the Druze community, which has very strict protocols regarding bloodshed, especially involving teenagers playing soccer. In Middle Eastern terms, they will demand to know who is responsible, and there will be a reaction."

American and Lebanese diplomatic sources indicate that Israel intends to soon strike targets in Lebanon in response to the killing of 12 children and teenagers by a Hezbollah rocket in Majdal Shams. According to Lebanese media reports, Israel's decision is final, and the timing of the action is still uncertain.

Fearing a full-scale war in the north, both sides are working to ensure that Israel's response is limited in scope, targeting mainly secondary sites rather than major cities, with a particular emphasis on avoiding Beirut. Diplomatic sources express concern that an excessive Israeli response could prompt Hezbollah to retaliate with greater force.
