Security establishment heads turned to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and informed him that the IDF could withdraw completely from the Gaza Strip for six weeks if this would be a condition in a new deal for the release of the captives, as reported on Channel 11 news tonight.

According to the report, the heads of the security establishment, the Chief of Staff, the head of the Shin Bet (ISA), and the Defence Minister conveyed a message to Netanyahu that this is a very short period that would not allow Hamas to regroup critically, neither in rearming nor in rebuilding and rehabilitating the tunnels. According to their statements, now is the time to promote and prioritize the release of the captives whose time is limited.

The proposal by senior security officials includes the return of residents of the area to northern Gaza, as well as a withdrawal from the Philadelphi Route, about which Netanyahu announced that it is critical for defeating Hamas to maintain control over the route in Israeli hands.
