Prime Minister Netanyahu headed out today (Monday) for a planned series of meetings with the President and Vice President and for a planned speech before both houses of Congress on Wednesday.
Before he left, Netanyahu gave a speech to the Israeli press mentioning how he is departing on a "very important" mission to the United States "at a time when Israel is fighting on seven fronts" and "when there is great political uncertainty in Washington," a reference to President Biden's decision to end his reelection bid.
Netanyahu mentioned how he will speak before both houses of Congress where he said he will seek to "anchor the bipartisan support that is so important for Israel." He said that he will "tell my friends on both sides of the aisle, that regardless of who the American People choose as their next President, Israel remains America's indispensable and strong ally in the Middle East."
Mentioning the planned meeting with President Biden, Netanyahu said the meeting would be an opportunity to "thank him for the things he did for Israel in the war and during his long and distinguished career in public service as Senator, as Vice President, and as President."
He finished by saying that "in this time of uncertainty, it's important that Israel's enemies know that America and Israel stand together - today, tomorrow, and always."
