Humanitarian Aid, Gaza

After the Gaza port fell apart, the US took a quick and surprising step

After the pier in Gaza was severely damaged and even began to sink into the sea: the US announces that aid shipments resumed last night after repairing a temporary pier built in the United States.

The US Central Command announces today (Sunday) that maritime aid shipments to Gaza resumed last night after repairing a temporary pier built in the United States the day before, CNN reported. Almost 500 tons, or more than a million pounds, of aid have been delivered since Saturday morning until now.

It is worth recalling that after rumours spread that the Gaza port, built by the United States, was used by Gaza to rescue captives, the United States hastened to clarify: that the pier, "including its equipment, manpower, and assets," did not serve in the operation.

The pier, which was also used to drop aid from planes and transport it through the border crossings, suffered damage and disintegrated in the sea at the end of last month. In less than two weeks of operation, the dock helped move about 1,000 tons of aid to Gaza. There are many reports that Hamas terrorists damaged the pier, but the US denies this.

We also recall that just a month ago, the United States completed the port project, the cost of which is estimated at about $320 million. Many Americans are angry at the US government for the waste of money.
