Binyamin Netanyahu, Hostage Deal

Netanyahu to war cabinet: False leaks to the press harm efforts to free the hostages

The Prime Minister also said that if anyone on the hostage negotiation teams can't bring themselves to heed the instructions of the government and instead leak to the press - "they should do the right thing and not be here."

The Prime Minister met with the war cabinet today (Sunday), and began with a number of opening remarks.

Specifically, he addressed the problem of leaks regarding hostage negotiations, and said bluntly: "The false debriefings from the negotiation team only harm the effort to return the hostages. They sow despair among the families of the hostages. They have only brought Hamas to harden its positions. And they are false."

Netanyahu then said that if there's anyone in the negotiating team unwilling to accept government instructions just to get false headlines - "they should do the right thing and not be here."
