A month after the State Commission of Inquiry published its report on the Meron disaster, which the Likud called "clearly political provocation" in the name of Prime Minister Netanyahu, it was decided today (Sunday) at the weekly government meeting to set up a ministerial team to draw conclusions from the report.
Per the decision of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the team will be lead by Shas party Religion Minister Michael Malkieli in coordination with the Jerusalem Affairs and Jewish Heritage Minister Meir Porush (UTJ). The team will also include the Finance Minister, Construction and Housing Minister, the Interior Minister, the National Security Minister, and the Transportation Minister.
The team's mandate will be to examine the operative recommendations of the report, defined as lateral recommendations. Religious Minister Malkieli will submit a draft of proposals within 90 days for government approval.
It was also decided that the team would make use of relevant ministry director generals and legal advisers and summon any needed professional party.
