Former Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel spoke today (Thursday) at the Democracy Day conference of 2024, hosted by Reichman University, where he said "we deserve a worthy government which can lead this people. The second after this is over, they will have to go - not now."

"Lest anyone have any doubt: we need to check each and every decision maker, including me, if there was a problematic decision in the Communications Ministry even though this isn't a relevant ministry. This leadership is a bridge until the end of the war, and then it's very important the reservists lead the State of Israel with the same fighting spirit."

Hendel also said that "on the subject of sharing the burden: I am 48 and I do reserve duty because there aren't enough soldiers in the IDF. Our reservoir of soldiers - that's the population you know. The best of Israelis are those who served in the army. Charedi society cannot stand still. A small and smart army is not what the state needs. It's not right that Jews do not go out for a (religiously) commanded war to defend their country and their brothers." It's possible and we will see to it that additional citizens enlist."
