Israeli company Minute Media has acquired all distribution rights of Sports Illustrated and associated media from its parent company Authentic Brands Group for an undisclosed sum, according to Calcalist.
First published in 1954, Sports Illustrated has served as a mainstay in sports journalism in the United States for seventy years. It recently encountered serious economic trouble and was forced to fire most of its employees due to the end of an agreement between the parent group and Arena Group over the suspected use of AI articles.
Minute Media, whose brands include Mental Floss and The Players' Tribune, has a 200 million person digital footprint, and they intend to leverage their new acquisition to deepen their understanding and influence on the world of sports journalism and content creation.
